I think models should have space for some description text, so you can describe what it does. Right now I have to write that as a comment on my own models, which is weird.

Christian Official comment You can add a description of your design in the design's properties dialog:

* However these I don't believe object descriptions should appear as default mouseovers as this additional information might confuse or obscure the mouseover controls.
* This descriptive information should be an optional intrinsic named property of all object types.

Permanently deleted user This is already in the roadmap. I'll let you know when we get there, as happened with Export Selected.

Cleared I totally agree with this.

Permanently deleted user +1, although I'm not sure if what's being requested is at the Design-level, like descriptions for Projects that's visible in the file browser, or at the Object-level. +1 to both, really.
Being able to annotate Objects inside a Design would be extremely useful. Experimenting with tolerances and other variations of designs in a single work area often requires rigorous documenting. Currently, we have to resort to using 3D text generators and other resource-heavy, unwieldy workarounds.
Something like a 2D plane of words, resembling a floating comic book speech bubble with a border and pointer, in 3-space (position and orientation controllable just like other primitives), with word wrap. Global visibility toggle.
Would be great to be able to anchor the annotation to an Object as well as leave untethered for labeling spacially-grouped Objects that fall under the same general notes. But what happens if you Ungroup a complex Object that has an annotation attached to it?

Permanently deleted user That's a great suggestion. We are definitely working along the lines of descriptions on the file browser. What you suggest to have within the model is something we can definitely look into.

Cleared I would add that, somewhat related to a model description, it would be nice to add small annotations, to parts of the design. For example, "Top half of lid" or "Left strut", "Attach last", etc. No export for these, but when viewing multi-part designs, this information would be helpful.

Cleared @PaulTechGuy You mean as in shapes on the view 3d having annotations when you hover over them?
-
Cleared Annotations would not be really associated with a specific shape. Just the ability to lay out some notes or comments around the design to help others understand it.
-
Cleared @PaulTechGuy Ahh alright. Also being able to add annotations to images like on Instructables would be good also. ALSO, it's kinda annoying that you have to upload an image the exact right size or else it'll just zoom in. Fitting to the screen would be much better.

Cleared Totally agree with Nisw. My design often need some extra info on how to use it. The title of the design is often too short to describe it, and using the comments for it is unelegant. It doesn't have to be so complicated as hoovertexts within the design as some commenters suggest here. Just when you click on a design from an overview page, you will not only see an enlarged 3D view as is currently the case, but also a descriptive text. Thingiverse has this option already. Would be great if the descriptive text could be exported to thingiverse along with the design as well.

Cleared Hey! where the feature that so many times described in this topic?
It really necessary function. If you attach any system for version control, it would be great too.Look! It is 2018 already!
-
Cleared Really? Are you joking? I need close my project for add some description?
Look. I do something and must write a plan for future ideas and solutions.
Next time I open my project and continue editing. Do you think it handy close and open project to look(of making changes or marks) at the plan? -
Permanently deleted user I wholeheartedly agree with adding a free-formal description field to the project, the same as tags which were added fairly recently. This description field could be added to the project properties dialog.
-
Christian Andrew, it is already in the properties dialog. see previous screenshot.
